I've stayed there twice, the last time being feb 2004. Its excellent especially as I do business meetings as well in the coffee shop, bar, etc...except we had a false fire alarm a few years ago, but the staff were very helpful.

I visited St. Ermin's in April, 2004 with my son and his friend (both 12) and had a great stay.

The location is perfect for tourists: Right around the corner from the St. James Park tube stop; walking distance to Buckingham Palace, Parliament, and Westminster Abbey. This made site seeing easy and pleasurable.

Part of staying at an old European style hotel is the ambiance and St. Ermin's has it. The hotel itself is a tourist stop. The lobby is beautiful with it's tile floor and elegant staircase. Read the signs or talk to someone about the tunnel from the hotel to the House of Parliament. There's also a sign about St. Ermin's place in civil rights history: they rebuked a customer who complained about some guests. Check out the "No. 10 Downing Street" office on the first floor. And look at the ballroom next to the dining room.

The rooms were roomy - mine had a double bed, an alcove with a sitting chair and a desk, minibar, and full bath. The boys had two double beds, an alcove with a desk and sitting chair, and a full bath.

The rooms were decorated with nice pictures of landmarks around London.

And most important, the staff is excellent. They were friendly when we checked in/out and when we stopped by with questions they were happy to help us. The dining room staff was quick, courteous, and offered the boys hot chocolate in the mornings.

The service didn't stop when we left. I made a mistake and thought breakfast was included in the room rates. When I returned home, I wrote to the hotel and they agreed to discount the boys' bills by 50%. I thought that was very generous of them.

If I return to London, I will stay there again.

The Jolly Hotel St. Ermins was fantastic. The room had everything we needed and the staff were very friendly. Central location, right around the corner (literally) from the St. James Park tube station. Only a few blocks to Westminster Abbey and Parliament. Room service a little slow, but the food was good. The only reason we rate this hotel a 9 is we were woken up by housekeeping at 8:30 am on a Saturday morning. Don't forget to hang your "Do not disturb" sign!!!!
